The game of darts can be traced from way back. Those composed of sisal are more expensive but are much more durable. It does not crumble. In the case of darts, the most common ones are the plastic points or shafts that newbies play. Some are composed of a steel and copper mix that is a bit more expensive but still made for beginners. The pure steel and tougher tips are for more veteran players and are competition grade. The dart has four main parts: the tip, barrel, shaft and flight. The tips are basically soft or hard. The soft ones are for electronic game boards while the hard ones are for the cork boards. The flights are usually feathers that accompany the darts and make them more aerodynamic. Some darts do away with the flights and there are some darts that have done away with them completely.

Since darts have now been used in competition sports, the means to make sure the darts are of equal bearing is to have them weighed and categorized in weight classes before a game.
